Australian Owls

Australia's night birds - owls, frogmouths and nightjars - are depicted in magnificent gouache
paintings, accompanied by whimsical verse and informative prose. Author Jill Morris and illustrator
Lynne Tracey have produced an impressive sequel to their first Environment Artbook 'Australian Bats'.

Jill Morris is the author of many books for children, as well as stage plays and TV and radio scripts. Jill lives at the Book Farm at Maleny in south-eastern Queensland, where writers of all ages walk in the rainforest and 'grow' books.

Lynne Tracey works in a studio at her home in inner-city Melbourne, looking over a leafy garden which is frequented by many birds. She has painted Australian wildlife on a variety of objects, from tea towels to violins. Lynne specialises in illuminated calligraphy: intricate decorations around
hand-written text.
